Statler and Manley Win Defense Verdict in Trucking Liability Trial

05.20.09

John Statler and Wade Manley successfully defended a local trucking company and its driver in a recent jury trial in federal court. The case arose out of a two vehicle accident that occurred on Route 78 in Berks County. The plaintiffs, who sought more than $1 million in medical expenses and lost wages, were represented by two experienced Philadelphia personal injury firms.

The case was tried in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The Honorable Lawrence Stengel presided over the six day trial in Reading. After hearing the testimony of more than a dozen witnesses, including eight expert witnesses, the jury deliberated for less than one hour before returning a defense verdict. The plaintiffs did not file an appeal.
